TONE MORE FRIENDLY Baltimore & Ohio... 221

Berlin, Jan. 28. Although the business transact- ed in the share market to-day was not great, the general tone was more friendly, chiefly because of the very favourable echo in the world press on the publication of the Italian and German notes on the Spanish situation.

Dealers bought more freely in anticipation of the stimulated in- terest by investors once the Ger- man Government declaration was published. The stocks put on the market by foreign holders, because of the rise in quotations abroad for blocked marks, were readily absorbed. the rise in the prices amounting to as much as one per cent

German fixed interest securities were again firm, available stocks being shorter than for the last rew days. Gold mortage bonds and communal bonds were particularly firm, rises of to being noticed in many of these. Foreign bonds were also Armer, Austrian State Loan, 1914. rising to 21, and Mexican Irrigation Loan to 7.10.

Call Money was quoted at 24. Young Loan was unchanged at 1021, Reichsbank rose to 188, Sal- zedetfurth Potash was firmer at 1761, United Steel Works advanced by i to 119, German Mineral Oils were better at 1474. Simenshalske rose to 203 and Bemberg Rayon. unquoted on Monday. changed hands at 109}- Transocean News Service,
