Heavy fog was the cause of the Min Chu towboat disaster in which over 200 passengers were drowned, according to reports reaching here from Kam Chuk Rapids, West River.

Further efforts are being made by representatives of the people of Houg Kong to persuade the Colonial Office of the extreme desirability of retaining the splendid services of Sir Andrew Caldecott as Governor of Hong Kong.

As reported below, the most important move was made yesterday when the Chinese members of the Legislative Council, at the request of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce representing 97 per cent, of the population of China, sent a cable to the Secretary of State for the Colonies pleading for the retention of Sir Andrew Caldecott as Governor of this Colony.

It is understood that the Secretary of State for the Colonies will visit Hong Kong during this year. FURTHER REPRESENTATIONS
