they scoop the town, and together they wise-crack through a series of exploits including a night of merriment with a visiting Arch- duke,

saving a gangster from drowning, and a thrilling airplane rescue of the victims of a Great Lakes ship disaster. Once they alinost marry, but Grant halts the plans with a prank and Miss Ben- nett, really hurt, hides her un- happiness.

Hollywood Hostesses New Year's Eve, Hogmanay, St.

The Earl of Warkick, who re- cently signed a film-contract, has proved a sad disappointment to the socially minded hostesses of the film capital,

Although he has been in Holly- wood for several weeks, he has nt- tended only one party given in til honour His agent arranged that for business reasons.

Nightclub, theatre and dinner parties, which have been secretly planned by the stars of the movie colony, have all been evaded and getting his name on the guest-lint has proved practically impossible. Lord Warwick, who will act un- der the name of Michael Brooke, has been consistently tired ever since he came to Hollywood and he blames it on the climate.

"Fact is," he explained. "I'd rather sleep"

Friends are beginning to doubt that his distaste for night-life has anything to do with his fat-

Buc.

He has played golf on virtually every course between Beverly Hills and the Pacific Ocean. He has been in the squash courts of three athletic clubs and has been wear- ing out his tennis shoes on many of the surrounding courts.

Between times he has been seen. riding and also doing a little fish

ing

"It isn't that I don't like meet- ing people," he said. "I'm just too tired Everybody tells me that it is the climate and that I'll be- come accustomed to it. Then, if I have time. I'll start going out socially.
