A child born in summer has more chance of living than one born in winter.

According to figures published by the Registrar-General, in his omcial commentary on the vital statistics of 1934, there is a con- siderable disadvantage in survival at the end of the second year for children born in winter compared with those born in other seasons.

Light-Weight Champion At His Best

Jimmy Walsh, lightweight "cham- ploa of Great Britain, made short work of Bermy Caplan, Et George's, recently, at the National Sporting Club's Monday evening show at the Empress Stadium. The referce stopped the fight in the third round.

From the first bell the cham- plon was tremendously aggressive, forcing Caplan to bring all his cleverness" into play to avoid pun- ishment. Over two rounds Carian displayed an elusiveness and cool- ness which kept him well out of danger.

More than one million copies of Shakespeare's works have been sold in the last few years in the US.S.R. according to M. Ivan Maisky, the Soviet 'Ambassador. who opened an exhibition of Soviet books at the First Edition Club, Bloomsbury, recently:
