Caledonian Society Reunion

St. Andrew's Day was celebrated In Paris in real Scottish fashion at a dinner and dance organised by the Caledonian Society of France at the Hotel Palals d'Orsay on pow cently.

The guests of honour, toasted by Sir Ian Malcolm' of Poltalioch, the Society's president, were the Bri tish Ambassador-whom Sir Tan referred to in his speech as 'a dis tinguished product of our native land and Lady Clerk. “

The Royal Artillery defeated the Small Units by 120 runs in the Large Units Cricket Tournament match played at Sookunpoo yes-

Batting Arst the RA. compiled 154 runs to which Summer con- tributed 34. Baker 26 and Miles 26. Hopcroft took seven wickets for 50. The Small Units were dismissed for the paltry total of 34. None of the batsmen reached double figures with the exception of Capt. £. J. Walch who scored 16.

Capt. Mitchell took four wickets for 18, Lathan 2 for 7-and Habden 2 for 8.

The reservoir was built on Mr. Venning's property in 1873, and measures 144 feet by 42 feet. It holds 400,000 gallons of water.

On being placed on the easel the plature received an opening bid of £5, but the keen competition which followed between one of two of the dealers soon made it evident that the panel was more important than the initial bid had suggested.
