The annual prize-giving of the French Convent School, Causeway Bay, was held yesterday evening, when Mrs. A. W. Bartholomew, the wife of H. E the General Officer Commanding, presented prizes to the year's winners Mrs. Bartho- | lomew was accompanied by Lt. J. P. Howorth. Alde-de-camp to the G. O. C.

A delightful programme of plano music and an operetta entitled "The Wishing Cap" was presented by the pupils of the school, Miss Paula Hollands scoring in her gypsy role in the latter. The mu- sical play was cleverly performed and W3S excellently played throughout by every member of the cast

At the conclusion of the play, the Rev. Father G. Byrne, in the course of his address said:-

In one of the past reports of some years ago a paragraph ran similar to this: The Sisters not only consider it their duty to teach the children in the various classes the subjects of the school curri culum and those special subjects which will help them to pass their examinations successfully, but also to direct their minds towards the paths of virtue and duty, and to give them that Christian and social education which will at them for their positions, in the world, and which will enable them to lead happy and useful lives.
