Prizes were given, to the for- tunate holder of a lucky ticket number chosen by luck, and also for the winner of the spot waltz. and the card dance.

FIREMEN'S DISPLAY
(Continued from Page 1.)
Was won by Central" "A" wha executed the drill in 2 minutes 2.1/5 secs, their time being two seconds better than Kowloon...
The uses of fire extinguishers were next demonstrated, soda acid and foam type being used. It waS shown that the former had little effect on a petfol fire while foam type extinguished the names al-. most immediately...
HOSE BURSTS The motor
pump competition drill final was decided between the Mongkok Fire Station tear and, Central Fire Station "B" the latter winning in the time of 55:3/5 secs. The Mongkok fre- men unfortunately burst their hose and thus lost much valuable time. The winners became the proud
ahteld possessors of the donated by the Hong Kong and Kowloon Wharf and Godown Company in 1904 for competition in the Fire Brigade.
HOOK LADDERS
나
The book ladder competition drill Anal proved most exciting. The competitors were firemen 73. and 5d. of Mongkok.. firemen 96 and motor driver 30 or Kowloon, fremeh 33 and 101, of Shamshul- po, and Bremen 35 and 61 of Shamshulpo. ;-)
It was explained that the hook ladder was a most important plect of fire apparatus. It is used for scaling houses and places where engine ladders could not be used.
Using two hook ladders. each pair tone equipped with a hook- belt) scaled the drill tower and effected the rescue of a man by the "Davy" fire escape line.
The competition was won by remen 56 and 73 in 4 minutes 36.3/5 secs,
THRILL PROVIDED The thrill of the afternoon was provided in a demonstration with the 100 foot all-steel motor turn- table fire escape, which, it was ex- plained to the spectators, weighed Over ten tons.
was A fireman "shot" up to a height of 94 feet, They use a telephone connection from the base of the ladder tu the top.
а
"District Call" (indicating fire of some magnitude) brought five motor fire engines into opera- tion and eight hoses were play- ed. It was a striking display and gave the public an insight into the working of the rigade at a big conflagration.
