Nogaitsik and Rode started pro- misingly against Ramsey and Philippens but fell away badly in the next two sets only claiming six games. Ramsey was erratic. Kine. but Phillippers with a lobbing campaign found their opponents' weak spot and gained many points with this shot.

Gray and Miss A. Mackenzie un- expectedly went down to Noghall- sik and Mrs. Lehmann in straight sets. At no time did they strike bé form although praise must given to Mrs. Lehmann who play- ed remarkably well. She placed and served excellently.

DECIDING MATCH ..

In perhaps what could be called the deciding match Fincher and M159 Dalziel beat Bodiker and Mrs. Kanter in three sets, the winners taking the third set after a lead of 4 games to two against them. Miss, Dalziel played the game of her lfe and did not seem to "be worried with Bodiker's drives which she returned with interest. Mrs. Kanter played well in the second set but fell away in the

third Fincher played his usual steady game and executed some nice kills at the net. Bodi- ker lost many polits by his volley- ing which he could not get going. Dillner and Schneider played steady tennis to beat Hirst and Freeman in straight sets although the latter had set point on Free man's service which falled him rather badly in that particular game. Athough

four are veterans the game was full of sparkling moments.

BRILLIANT TENNIS

With the score of 9 matches to aight in Kowloon's favou: Bodiker took the court against Gray rather late in the eventig and some brilliant tennis was witnessed. Gray was driving very hard and had Bodiker on the run many time. He judged his riet attack nicely and gained many points by doing so. Gray had one set point la the first set and with a Httle fuck should have taken it, his drop

The second set was also fought out at a terrific pace but with the score at six games all the math was abandoned owing to bad light. It was a pity the match War started so late as the draw left KC.C. winning by the odd match. LADIES' GAMES

The ladies of both Clubs played well. Miss, Griffiths was perhaps the outstanding player for K. loan. Miss Mackenzie played nice tennis in her singles but was bad- ly of form in the Mixed Douales Miss Dalziel was steady through- out all her games, her backhand and forehand driving being the

feature of her game.

For the German Club, Mrs. Rode was most impressive, she posesses a very free style and plays a very nich net game. Mrs. Kanter found the pace of Miss Grimaths a bit too much for her in the singles but in the doubles with Bodiker she showed how steady the can be. Mrs. Lehmann played a nice game, although her strokes lack power she places very nicely and was mainly responsible for two valuable points for the Ger- man Club.

ner under the chairmanship of Mr. H. Schneider, President of the Club,

Mr. Schneider, in proposing the health of the visitors, offered them а warm welcome, and stressed how pleased the German Club was to be able to entertain

them. The only thing he regret

ted was that there were not more young people in the German Club tennis team.

The toast was accorded musical honours, to which Mr. W, Hirst re- plied, saying how much they ap- preciated the generous hospitality or the German community in Tungshan, and how much the K.C.C. looking forward to receiv ing them back as visitors.
