And They Last Eight Years
JAPAN'S LATEST
A bicycle that will sell for 18a and will last eight years will be put on the market shortly by the Bicycle Manufacturers' Association of Tokio, who have issued some remarkable figures about the ex- port growth of Japan's bicycle
trade, states the "Bulletin”
In 1926 Japan exported bicycles, spare parts, and tyres to the value of 6.880,000 yen (£280,000 roughly), In 1932 the figures had grown to 2,276,000 yen (about £390,000).
The Bicycle Trust, or Bicycle Manufacturers Association, tras formed in 1932. Steps were taken
to modernise all existing equipment in the Japanese, factories and cut the cost of production..

THE SHARE
MARKET
Harriman's Weekly Review
The week just passed has proved an exciting on for mining share holders for the Manila market haa been subject to very wide fluctua- tions in rates. For some time past Philippine mining shares have been inclined to ease. but an Tuesday and Wednesday the mar- ket dropped with -- great rapidity and values declined up to 50%. The market staged a remarkable rally during Thursday and this recovery was continued up to Fri- day's close, bringing“ quotations. back to within about twenty per cent of those obtaining at the end of last week
Antamoks fell to Ps. 2.90, but close at Ps.3.70. San Mauricios were at one time as low as Ps.1.60 (and even lower figures were quoted unofficially) but steadied. to lose with transactions at Ps.2.85. Baguios fell to 27 centavos and reacted again up to 32 centavos Consolidated Mines reached 3 cen- tavos. but came back again to 4 centavos. The whole list was sub- Ject to very heavy selling, all of which was absorbed (although under such circumstances at lowered rates) which speaks well for the financés of the Manila market. The subsequent strong rally after this 'shake-out put operators in good fettle and a lit- tle more disposed, in future, to take profits, rather than to hold on in-definitely, under the illu- sion that "the sky's the limit." :
