CORONATION SEAT CONTRACTS

Persons who are booking seats for the Cornett'in Procession find. that unless they make payment in full they are asked to sign an agreement that they will pay for the seats next. May whether the procession takes place or not. The reason for this is the decision KİVAN by the Courts at the time" when the ceremonies on the occasion of the Coronation of King Edward VII. were postponed, states the "Evening Standard."

It was then held that persons who had paid in advance could not recover their money, but that those who had not paid were under no. obligation to make any contri- bution, The contract had, in the eyes of the law, become impossible of performance and both parties stood exactly in the same position

as if no contract had been made.

If for any reason the Coronation were postponed it may be argued that any loss should be borne equally by both parties and that therefore only a deposit should be paid on the booking of the seats, the balance to be payable only in the event of the ceremony taking place on May. 12 or within a month afterwards.
