PHILIPPINES

A boom in the gold mining companies of the Philippine Islands has been taking place during the past twelve months It is expected to reach new peaks in the near future.
In July 1935 the weekly turnover of shares in Mantia was only around the three million mark. Recently it has risen to the colos sal figure of 25 millions, nearly 900 per cent increase.
The shares of most of the operating companies are of very small denomination, often of 10 centavos (equal tb. about 24d.). .
The phenomenal rises which which have been taking place in these shares are shown by the following examples:
