British Films Too Few To Meet Quota
Hundreds of British film ex- hibitors, unable to obtain even hali the British pictures required to fulfil the "quota" obligations, are facing legal · action when the "quotá" year expires shortly.
Independent owners in all parts of Britain are in a state of panic as they. And themselves unable to complete the new high schedule which a year ago, was raised to one British fit in every five shown.
Numerous appeals for help have been made to the trade body, the Cinematograph Exhibitors Assc- clation, but it is unable to offer help. It can only recommend that each exhibitor prepare a case and ask the Board for clemency. In previous years fines have been in- ficted varying from £5 to £50.
