BADMINTON TRIALS

Last night saw, the conclusion of the badminton trials at the Club de Recreio, who had kindly offered their court for the purpose. L. A. Carvalho and W. C. Choy were the two outstanding players in the men's division, and Miss M. Grifiths shone also for her play- 1.

Players will be selected from these representatives in a series of matches with a contigent from Shanghai.. Although Hong Kong is playing a fairly representative team from Shanghai those games will not be considered as 'interport.

ALLEGED GANG OF THIEVES

Smart detective work has led to the apprehension of a gang who have made it their habit to vic- timise prominent "local Indian merchants.

An alleged theft of $22 from Mr. D. Chellaram has been traced to Lau Tong. 22 years of age, sales man, of the Indian Club, China
