The Chinese community in Hong Kong yesterday celebrated. the Mid-Autumn Festival, or the Moon-Cake Festival, with "great enthusiasm, and the majority of shops and houses displayed elec- de designs and colored lanterns, particularly the large department stores.

In the homes of Chinese faml- lies, feasts were held and tables were laden with moon-cakes and fruits of different kinds.

Last night the weather WILS fine and the moon could be ob- served in its fullest grandeur, signifying family raunion And hopplaess.

At Tai Hang last night, the villagers celebrated the festivp] by long fire-dragon procession. which attracted a large number of people. The procession will be re- peated for the next three nights. commencing from 7p.m. to 10 pm. each night.

-It is said that when the first fre-dragon procession took place. Tai Hang Village was the only lucky plase free from plague,' which raged throughout the Colony at the time, and so the procession has continued, every year for the past forty years— T.S.M.
