YESTERDAY'S OFFICIAL QUOTATIONS

Business has continued on a fair sale and prices generally have ruled firm, and in the case of Kowicon Wharves, Telephones. Electrics and Dairy Farms have established definitely upward trend. China Lights (Old) were

slightly easier and were sold down to $154, while China Providents (Old) receded to $2.40, and Ewos were on offer at $9.20.

Of the higher priced investment

stocks HK, Banks and Unlons are Idemand at $1.610 and $580 re- spectively, while Hong Kong Fires $12.10 clanged hands at $255,

COINS OF THE NEW REIGN

King To Approve Design

PROCLAMATION "THIS

WINTER

The new King Edward Vill coinage will be in circulation early next year. Designs are now being prepared for the Royal Mint by Mr. Percy Metcalfe, the sculptor who designed the Jubilee medals.

When they have been completed they will be submitted to the King for approval and a Royal Pro- aimation" will be issued permitting the Mint to place the new coinage in circulation,

An official of the Mint stated yesterday that the proclamation would probably be issued, towards the end of this year, and would. give the exact date at which the coinage will come into circulation.

he "The proclamation." said, "will take the form of a descrip- tion of the design for the King's head and the wording common to the obverse side of all coins. De- scriptions of the designs of the re- verse sides for the different. de- nominations will also be given.

"The proclamation will be issued about two months before the coins are to come into circulation to give us plenty of time to prepare them."
