A new Morle Oberon with an ena.rely different personality will be seen in "The Dark Ange.. the Samuel Goldwyn production which begins a three-day run at "the Star Theatre today.

The bizarre coiffures, the Orien- tal slant of the eyes, the' exotic make-up and costumes are gone and instead Merle is revealed as a sweet. lovely young English girl, very closely resembling herself. STARS IMITATE STARS

In This Film. Which London Saw

When His Majesty's Theatre "opened as a cinema recently the audience was composed mainly of London theatrical people and first-nighters, who paid 24s for their seats.

And they saw on the screen, in "The Great Ziegfeld," impersona- tions of many stars whom they have known in real life.

Several of the characters actually saw themselves being imitated at the Hollywood first night,

Foremost among these was Billle Burke, who was the great Americau showman's second wife.

Miss Burke is under contract to Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the pro- ducers of the film, and it was an embarrassing moment when they had to go to her and suggest that as they had to show her when she was 25 perhaps it would be as well-er- someone else played this important part.

Miss Burke is 51 now, though she does not look that age

on the screen in her delightful comedy parts. But she did not mind a younger star having the part.

"That's all right," she said. "I understand. What about Myma Loy? Not exactly like me, but I think he's the type." Later she coached Miss Loy in her own l- De ways and "mannerisms.

Then there was Eddie Cantor, imitator-Buddy Doyle, who appears in the film as Eddie when he was a black-faced comedian in the Ziegfeld showi
