"No Cause For Alarm"- Official

"There is not the slightest Justification to describe it as an epidemic" said a Government official in answer to a query by a "Daily Press" representative yesterday, regarding the prevalence of typhold in Health returns submitted by the authorities for daily publication.

The cause of typhoid in the Colony was mainly due to the bad hygiénic conditions in which food was prepared and stored, stated our informant, and this state of affairs mathly applied to the poorer classes in Hong Kong,

WHAT FIGURES SHOW "Is there any increase in the number of cases reported?" asked our representative,

Official figures in this respect were as follows: There were 233 cases, reported last year up to and including August, relating to a forms of typhod, while the figures for this year were stated to be 200 an increase of 12 per cent "approximately
