Geneva, September 22. This morning the League of Nations Assembly set up the usual Committees. As had been the custom In the last few years, the formation of a third committee to deal with dis- armament questions has been dispended with, but the President was given authority to form it subsequently in course of the session, should it appear advisable. This step would become necessary should the announcement of the French delegation in connection with disarmament indeed materialise.
At 11 o'clock the Credentials Committee recommenced their deliberations regarding the admittance of the Abyssinian delega- tion. The Abyssinians have handed the Committee a memoran- dum on their legal position and demand in addition an op- portunity to state thir case before the Committee personally before the latter presents its resolution. They also demand that the Assembly shall not make a decision unti after expiry of 24 hours after receiving the Credential Committee's report.--Tran- socean News Service,,

BLUM-EDEN DISCUSSION IN PARIS
British Leanings Towards French Views
London, September 22.
The possibility of reopening of negotiations for the limitations of armaments is understood to be an important item between the questions discussed by ML Leon Blum and Mr. Anthony Eden yesterday, reports the Times" Paris correspondent,
It is believed that the British Government is moving slowly towards a position in accordance with French views owing first- ly, to the slight but definite signs that even the nations leading in the armaments race would be glad of a respite from psycho- logical economic pressures engendered thereby, and secondly, to easing the recent internal tension in France by M. Bham's success in moderating the criticisms of Communists and settling the dangerous textile strike.

that it was necessary to call the conference of the Western Powers as soon as possible, without taking the attitudes of Italy and Ger- ¦ many into consideration. M. Blum argued that even if Italy and Ger- many did not attend, stating that insuficient diplomatic preparation was the reason, then a regional pact could at least be concluded to secure the peace of Western Europe. This pact. of course, would then be open for Germany and Italy to join at any time:
Mr. Eden is said to have shown little enthusiasm for this proposal, since the British Government con- sider the participation of Germany and Italy essential, and realise that as preliminary conditions the Russian question must be cleared up on the one hand and the Abys- sinian and Mediterranean pro blems must be definitely settled on the other.
A
M. Blum ia also credited with the suggestion that the Soviet Union and the Little Entente should be included in the Confer- ence, a proposal which Mr. Eden rejected as being too premature.--- Transocean News Servere.
