Hector Thomson Defeated

Garden City, Long Is. Sept. 15. Five Brush Walker Cup players advanced to the third round of the United States Amateur Golf Championship to-day, while four others were beaten in the secono found.

The most sensational result was the defeat of Hector Thomson, who. lost to Henry Kowal, former cap- tain of Colgate University by 4 and 2.

Thomson was completely off, his Game and became four down at the ninth.

Dr. Tweddell. the British Walker Cup captain was another second round victim. He lost by one hole after being two up at the 16th.

Morton Dykes was a third Bri- tish player to be eliminated, while Gordon Peters suffered a similar fate.

The victorious British compett- tors were Alec Hill. John Langley. who won handsomely by 7 and 8. J. McLean, who also had a com- fortable win by 5 and 4. C. Ewing and Luces,
