Hendaye, September 12.
Insurgent troops under General Mola are expected to make a victorious entry into San Sebastian to-morrow. In the mean. while four thousand Government "defenders are harriedly evacuat- ing the city and crowding the road to Bilbao.
This morning the insurgents launched a violent attack on the Hernani and Oyarzun sectors and captured Santa Barbara, #'strategic position dominating all points occupied by the Popu lar Front militia. The Government troops retired, whereupan in- surgent aircraft bombed the outskirts of the town preliminary to Infantry advance.

The Governor of the city, Colonel Ortega, In view of the hopelessness of the situation, calmly organised evacuation of the Popular Front adherents by lorries and cargo boats to Bilbao. He was assisted by Basque nationalists who assum- ed the duties of auxiliary police determined to prevent anarchists burning or pillaging the town.
