The Nationalist attack on Fort Guadaloupe, north of San Se- bastian, has begun, according to despatches here, which add that despite heavy, artillery, fire of the Red militia, Carlist volunteers have succeeded in making their way nearly to the summit of the hill on which the fort is, situated. The defenders have threatened to blow up all big munition depots if the nationalists should suc- ceed in gaining entry.

The battle for the possession of San Sebastian is reported also to be in full swing, the town being bombed simultaneously from sea and land. The Nationalists are reported to have stormed the heights of Pasajes, which command the town," but the two forta, San Pedro and Trincharpe, both strongly defended, still hold out,
