Urban Council Replies
Replying to questions asked about malaria and tuberculosis at -- the Urban Council Meeting yesterday afternoon, the Chalenan, Mr. R. R. Todd, stated that there was no proof that malaria in the Colony had increased generally, and that as regards tuberculosis toere were no special facilities for its treatment in the Celony. By that the Chairman meant there was no tuberculosis sanita- rium, but palliative treatment was given in all hospitals.
The Chairman further stated that it was not considered pric- ticable to attempt to prevent spitting in public places by legisla- tion. The only means by which this habit will be eliminated is the gradual education of the public." he added.
Dr. Li Shu Fan asked:-
"With reference to the prevalence
of malaria in the Colony, will the Chairman kindly furnish answers
to the following questions?

TENEMENT OVERCROWDING
(c) Under the pecullar conditions existing in Hong Kong it is ex-
