KELLET ISLAND OR NOT?

Discussions At Annual Meeting

YACHT CLUB'S SUBSCRIPTIONS DECREASED

Whether Kellet Island will be the future home of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club or not, is to he decided by a special sub-committer, following some interesting discussion on the question at the anoual general meeting of the R.H.K.Y. Club held yesterday.. at the rub house Causeway Bay, presided over by Mr. H. S. Rouse (Vice-Commodore).

Mr. E. Coek stated that sev eral other sites should be select- ed and a temporary matshed erected in order that" members might see and decide for them- selves the most suitable site...

Mr. H. W. Dulley proposed, sec- onded by Mr. C. J. Cooke that a sub-committee be appointed im- mediately to go thoroughly into the whole question, and that members be invited to contribute their sug- gestions in writing. This proposi- tion, was carried unanimously when put to the meeting.

Addressing those present the Vice-Commodore said:

Hon. Dr. Ts'o pointed out that the Chinese Press representative did not come to see him about the matter. He could not say that the 97 per cent of the population were equally latellectual to the other three per cent.

THE ACCOUNTS

On turning to the accounts there arg some items which perhaps, call for a few remarks.--

"General expenses" are up by a ittle over $120 but our "Printing. Stationery and Advertising" have cost us $300 odd less than last year. The delayed repairs to the Club House necessitated an expenditure of $450 over that of last year.

The item "Hired Yachts loss in- cludes the depreciation of both "Carpenter" and "Mistral" and this accounts for approx. $280. of the $350.92. The "Mistral" has been sold and it is proposed that an-

With these remarks Gentlemen I would ask someone to second the accounts thereafter they are oper to discussion and I will endeavour to answer any question to the best of my ability.

"Ordinary" Yachting expenses have been reduced by over $285 from last year but unfortunately we did not receive as much in En-` trance fees for salting events by $138.

Rowing Expenses are up under head of "General" by just under $160 due chiefly to purchase of two pairs of racing sculs from Messrs. Ayling and Bons.

The increase in Bowling expenses has been brought about..by the need to replace the "end-boards" or the

MR. WOOD'S SERVICES

Mr. Cock referred to Mr. G. 0. Wood's retirement from the Rear- Commodoreship of the Club with regret and recalled the latter's keen interest in the welfare of the club. The speaker sincerely hoped that Mr. Wood would continue to take an interest and always be handy with his sound advice.

Mr. Wood in reply stated that sailing was the hobby so far he was concerned. He commenced this "Travessa Trophy the $81.50 in sport in 1008 and the principal crcase here is due to the postpone thing to remember was the ques- mert of the last October racetion of keeping a boat in trim.
