CHINESE BANK NOTES

Effect Of Currency Changes

London, July 16.

In reporting a great expansion in security printing during the past year at the meeting of Thomas de

la Rue and Co. the chairman (Mr. 8. S. Lamert) said:-

A very substantial part of that out of the fact expansion arose

off the eliver that China went

withdrew standard,

her diver coinage, and, in consequence, im- mediately needed a large number of notes. As this company was in a position to apply what the Chin- ese Government wanted we obtain- ed a substantial share of the work. This great increase, coming mid- denly on our bank-note manufac turing department, was, however, not an unmixed blessing..

Tunnel To Develop Mines

FIRST SHAFT

(Through the courtesy of Messrs. G. A. Harriman & Co., Ltd.) The development of the mines in Į the Suyoc district in the Philippine Islands will be established with the opening of a tunnel by the Palldan- Suyoc Deep Level Tunnel Com- pany, and the auroc Consolidated will probably add considerably to its are reserves.

This company was incorporated on July 17, for 750,000 pesos. All of the authorised capital stock has been subscribed, and it is reported that the issue was over-subscribed in two days by more than 100 per-

cent

The oficials of the company are: President, Geo. C. Dankwerth, vice- qjresident, A L. Velilla, treasurer,

M A. F. Kelly, secretary. O'Malley.

LONGEST TUNNEL

The purposes of the company is to drive a tunnel from the lower reaches of the Suyoc river to tap

the lodes between its portal and the Buyoc Consolidated Mining Company's workings.

The Buyos Consolidated Mining Company sank the first shaft in the district for deep development work. It has been dicated by Suyos Consolidated, after two years of intensive deep latel work, this the ore bodies become better de

ned, more favourable for the de- position of gold, and contain more steady values at depth.
