"“IMPS" INTERIM
DIVIDEND ESTIMATE
London, July 14. Dealers in the Industrial shares market do not expect any change in the Imperial Tobacco Interim dividend which, is due to be, an- pounced towards the end of next deck.
It is understood that the com- bine continues to meet favourable trading conditions and the market would not be surprised to see a further increase in profits when the accounts are issued early next year.
The chairman stated at the meeting in February that trade for the first quarter of this year had been good. He pointed out that financial results of trading operations, apart from Invest- ment Income, were achieved by a "small rate of proft on a large
turnover,
While the combine is probably obtaining its share of the increase now taking place in tobacco con- |sumption It has to be remember- ed that there has been a tendency for the cost of the raw material to rise.
In this connection the chairman sald last year that owing to the necessity for keeping large stocks, of matured leaf the company had not yet fully borne in their-trad ing operations the increased cost of the raw' material,
He added, however, that ther could look forward to presenting a year hence results not less favour- able than those he was then re- viewing.
