with thrilling mystery and sparkling dialogue with exciting romance in "Half Angel," opened yesterday at the King's Theatre with Frances Dez. Brian Donlevy and droll Charles Butterworth featured at the head' of an imposing cast, that Henry. Stephenson. and Sara Hadën.

"Half Angel" raises itself beyond che ordinary in the opening scenes. with Miss Dee on trial for the 'father. poisen murder of her Everybody is convinced of her guilt with the exception of Erlan Donlevy, a dashing reporter, and comical Charles Butterworth, his "Stooge."

Donlevy's paper is paying Miss Dee's expenses during the trial, hoping to secure her fe story. Unexpectedly, the jury returns a verdict of "not guilty" and Don levy rushes to her side. Miss Dee is whisked away; however, by Helen Westley, whose hobby is helping those in trouble..

CINDERALLA TALE AT THE ALHAMBRA

"IF YOU COULD ONLY COOK"

Jean Arthur who has been on the screen of the Alhambra Thea- tre since Sunday in "Mr. Deeds Goes To Town" in which she filed the role of a star reporter is once again the feminine attraction at the Alhambra where she appears In the Columbia flm "It You Could Only Cook." This time she is starred opposite the suave Herbert Marshall whose film “The Lady. Consents" (Ann Harding) was shown here a couple of weeks

ago.

"If You Could Only Cook" is a clever Cinderalla tale. Herbert Marshall, a society man, in pursuit of romance seeks employment in- cognito. He obtains work in the pantry of a gangster's mansion and there finds Jean Arthur also engaged in household work, As the gangster, Leo Carrilo gives a first class performance as does that deep-vpiced Lionel Stander as one of the nfembers of the gang.

Of course, Miss Arthur falls "in love with Marshall. On the day appointed for the wedding of Mar- shall to a society woman. Carrilo is "everything fixed up."

The hold up. led by Stander. during the wedding service. Is hilarious and provides one of the numerous comedy, situations that punctuate the production.

Miss Arthur is as capable as ever and Marshall also is splendid. The supporting cast is competent.

Appearing on the stage at all performances in conjunction with the film are Yola and Paul, the calebrated Continental dance team. who already gained warm praise with their appearances at the Hong Kong Hotel Roof Garden. Yola and Paal entertain with a splendid programme of dancing and both individual and duo items are executed with remarkable skil and grace.-"Redincam."
