Another week of activity char- acterised the market and Gold ming shares were again respon- zible for the major volúme of business done. It is however pleasing to note a marked revival of interest in local issues, with, at the close a good buying de- mand for all investment issues; Hongkong Tram shares being the bright leading star. at $11.20 buyers, and business done. Elec- trics were taken at 501 and are wanted further. Dairys have awakened to lie, buyers bidding 19. sellers holding for $20, Tele- phones told) remain either side of $25 cum after sales at this, Lights (old) after early weakness Wanted at close around $10.- 60. Among Industrial, Cements found keen takers,' up to $8.90 cash, but Ropes seem friendless and unsupported at $3.60 sellers. Sincers were transacted at $3 and buyers are bidding 35 cents for Constructions (old). Providents (old) are in favour and following sales at one dollar can be placed at something over this. The new shares have buyers at 15 ceats and sellers at 25 cents. In the sterling section Banks declined to $1570 curn the iterim dividend of

£210 (which 13 payable August 7th). Unions are lected at around $525 sellers. The Manua mining Hist was again active and rates

were well-maintained until about the close. when an easier tendency developed. Now that the Manila Stock Exchange remains closed all day Saturday, profit taking during Fridays appear to weaken the market. which usually reopens firms again on. Monday mornings. Antamoks have kept fully steady and many thousand of shares were dealt in between 4.85 and $5.1, closing buyers at $4.95 ex dividend. Atoks once reached 94 cts; closing however at 85 cts. Md Baguio Gold were largely dealt in up to 414 cts., but eased' off sharply at close to 38/39 cts. Benguet Exploration were carried up to 36 cts, but are now 33 cts. seller. Benguet Consolidated are Amer. Cyanamid 'B' 36 steady at $19.40. Big Wedge have Am. & For. Power had wide fluctuations and ales
