In connection with a forged banknote case, which was heard by Mr. J. H B. Lee at the Central Magistracy yesterday, a Chinese constable was commended by the Magistrate for his good work in trailing down the defendant who attempted

So Chan Wah. aged 23. goldsmith, was charged with having in posses- sion a forged $5 note with intent to ustez, and was convicted and sentenced to three months' hard labour.

A brilliant report of scholastic as well as athletic achievement was contained in the report presented by the Acting Head Master, the Rev. L. L. Nash, at the annual speech day and prize giving of the Diocesan Boys School, which was held yesterday afternoon.

The Great Hall of the School which was decorated with the school flag, the Union Jack and the flag of the Chinese Republic presented an animated scene when long before the arrival of His Excellency the Governor, Sir Andrew Caldecott and Lady Caldecott, it was crowded with proud parents, friends and the pupils themselves..
