THE DERBY RESULT IN COMMONS

London, May 28. There was a dead heat yesterday in the annual race to bring the name of the Derby winner into the House of Commons. It is about 50

yards from the tape machine to the Chamber.

Capt. Margesson and Mr. Charles Edwards, Chief Whips of the Gov- ernment and the Opposition, gave the result to the two sides simul- taneously.

Until about 10 years ago It was usual for some MP. or other to announce the "result in some such concealed form. The custom has died out of recent years.
