The price for Ready Silver, was unchanged yesterday but the For- ward rate rose 1/18, the quotations being 20 1/16 and 20 1/8 respec- tively. Silver advices reported In- dis and speculators 2.4 having Eought. China sold. The market closed quiet. After the oficial Aixing the market Was quietly steady with buyers and sellers at the fixed rate. In America the rate was unchanged at 44 3/4 for Spot.

The London-New York rate was quoted at 4.97 7/8. New York-Lonodn was unchanged at 207/21/32.

MARKET

Opened with indications of east- ness but later reacted slightly.

STERLING

The market opened with buyers at 1/3 19/32 but offers at 1/3 9/18 were soon accepted for near dc- livery. Buyers then predominated for a while at 1/3 9/16. sellers offering only 1/3 17/32. Later a elight reaction occurred and 1/3 9/18 was again arranged for near and forward. The market closed at 1 p.m. with sellers at 1/3 9/16 May-August and 1/3 17/32 Sep- tember-December. buyers at 19/32 May-September and prob- ably 1/3 9/16 October-December,
