TRADE AGREEMENT

Dr. Klep was born at Saltcoats in Scotland and is of a family well-known in German diplomacy. His uncle was Secretary of State under Bismarck... Dr.Kiep was attached to the German Legation at The Hague, Budapest. the German Embassy at Washington, was, in 1925, Chief of the Press Department of the Relch. and later Corisul-General at New York. He is now Minister at Large in his capacity as expers in Economics and Finance.
PURPOSE OF MISSION
"Questioned as to the purpose of his mission, Dr. Klep said:
"The main object of the mission has been to study the economic conditions in the countries of the Far East and to ascertain the possibilities of increasing the volume of trade between Germany and those countries"
The Mission first visited Japan. where eight weeks were spent studying German-Japanese trade. and then proceeded to China by way of Manchuria, where the con-

ditions of the Soya Bean Trade, in which Germany is strongly In- terested as chief consumer of that commodity, were sudled.

out the fountain pen from six similar pens. On the afternoon of April 20, the third accused took witness to goldsmith's shop where she claimed that she sold a' pair of earrings.
Detective Sergeant Goodwin gave corroborative evidence, and said: that the first accused took him to No. 230 Bai Yeung Chef Street, where second accused ved. The latter was out at Wie tire, but, a Woman who claimed to be his wife was in. Witness found a suitcase, which on being opened, disclosed two pawn tickets. Later second accused claimed the sult case as his and also one of the tickets.
