Silver prices dropped 1/18 yes- terday for both deliveries, the quo-' tations being 201 for Ready, and Forward. 8ilyer advices reported that there were some general sell- ing. India, China and speculators bought to a small extent and after the oficial fixing where were some buying inquiries at the fixed rate. In America the rate remain- ed at 441 for Spot.

The London/New York cross- rate was quoted at 4.981. New York/London was slightly lower at 4.96.

MARKET

Steady for Cash but forward rates, were not so robust.

STERLING

Business was done. during the course of the morning at 1/3 13/16 for cash and May. The market closed at 1 p.m. with sellers at 1/3 13/16 for cash and 1/3 May/ December, buyers at 1/3 for cash and 1/3. 19/15 June/December.
