First Tests Are Carried Out

London. Apr. 19. First tests of a new type of light aeroplane, capable of a speed of more than 100 m.p.h. with only a 6 hp. engine, were carried out secretly at Ashingdon (Essex) yes- terday.

It is expected that the machine. a's ngle-seater designed by Mr. S. Buzzard. a London business man. will be placed on the British mar -

ket at the retal price of £160 or less in the very near future.

"It is simalar in some respects で the Fier, an official who watched the tests told a Sunday. Pictorial representative last night.. "but we claim It to be the first pukka aeroplane produced as such low cost."

compara

It wil be capable of tively high speeds over long dis- stances. The design of the piane allows simple room for 2 large store of petrol. Owing to the smallness of the engine one gallon o: fuel, it is sald, wil be sufficient for one hour's, flying at a cruising speed of 75 to 80 m.p.h
