Chan Fook, 66, unemployed ap- peared before Mr S. F. Balfour at the Central Court yesterday charged on two counts. (1) the un- lawful possession of four fresh fish at Graham Street, near Wellington Street and with returning from banishment, where he was sent away for 10 years on September 23 1935. He was sentenced to three months on the first charge and to six months on the second.

Another return banishee, Chan Keung, 30, was also sentenced to three months by Mr. Balfour Sub- Inspector Sabey prosecuted in both cases.

GIVES EVIDENCE AT AN INQUEST

Mr. S. F. Balfour, Magistrate at the Central Police Court, found his position reversed yes- terday when, instead of asking questions, he was questioned himself.

Mr. Balfour was a passenger in abus in Queen's Road Central on March 25 when a mishap occurred and a woman died following in- juries, Yesterday he was called as a witness at the inquest con- ducted by Mr. W. Schofield.

Immediately he had given his evidence he went into the No. 2 police court where a case had been suspended pending his arrival.

Evidence showed that the bus had run into the rear of a station- Lry car, which had been knocked forward and jammed the woman, Wong Sun-chor, 62, against a stone pillar. She died in hospital a week later.
