We have experienced a very active market during the week under review and
all rates in sections were very well maintained and in many instances showed slight gains. Trading" was again very brisk in that popular stock 'Cements' and Gold mining shares had a good share of the business with Antamoks and Demonstra- tions drawing most attention. Local investment issues continued in demand with Hongkong Trams put through in quantity between $10.80 to $10.95, Hongkong Elec- trics at 351,50 and Telephones (old) at $25 had a good turnover. Star Ferries Improved en strong demand to à buying rate of $88. Dairy Farms came to business at $20. Hongkong Larida showed very little "change with persistent sellers at $33. buyers holding off for $33.00. Minor issues were very active with with Cements playing the leading role, a very large business having been done at $8.70 to $10.40 for cash and corresponding rates for forward deliveries. Hotels suddenly improved to $5 closing with strong enquiries zt $4.90. China Lights (old) fluctuated between $10.55 and $10.95, the new shares were wanted at $7.30.
Providents (old) were on offer at $1.25 after sales at this rate. Gold mining issues reacted sightly on very heavy profit taking in Manlia but all offerings were well absorbed and a new high level is anticipated: after the recent 'shake out. An- tamoks were dealt in as high as $2.48 and Demonstrations rose to 78 cents at one time, but both stocks closed easier for the fore- going reasons, Baguio Gold were also popular having changed hands at 2841/33) cents. United Paracales enjoyed their share popularity with transactions done a: 79/80 cts. Big Wedge changed hands, in quantity at 38/40 cts. cash and 42 cts. June. Sterling counters were a shade easter with Hongkong Banks changing hands at $1500 /1510 and Unions at $500 to $510, The tone of the market
of
at the close is very active with enquiries for stocks in almost every section.
Business during the week has bren done at the following
