After the officia; fixing there were sellers at the quoted rates and buyers at 1/1 lower: In America the rate was unchanged at 442 for Spot,

MARKET

The near rate was unchanged at the opening but the forward rates were steadier. Later the market firmed up for nest de- livery.

STERLING

Business was done shortly after, the opening at 1/37 for June fol-" lowed by transactions at 1/3 13/16 for cash and March. The market eosed at 1 p.m. with sellers at 1/3 13/16 March and probably April and 1/3 May/July, buyers at 1/16) higher respectively.

U.S. DOLLARS' Bustness was done during the carly part of the morning at 22 11/16 for May. Later 323 WRS arranged for March de Ivery. There were sellers at 322 for March, 32 11/16 for Apr and probably May, buyers at 1/16 high- er respectively..

SHANGHAI DOLLÁRN Sellers were quoted at 108 11/16 for Spot.
