FANLING HUNT

St. John Ambulance Cup

Holders of Tickets are informed that this race meeting will take place, at the Kwanti Race Course Sunday, April 5th and not as previously advertised.

In a fairly even encounter play ed on the Kowicon Ground yester-on day, the Police seniors drew 2 all with the Royal Welsh Fusiliers in a First Divison League Match.

The Fusters were at full strength but the Police were without the services of

Mass and Britsin. Green who played on the extreme

left was just a passenger for most of the game as he was suffering from a strained muscle.

Brooks at Inside left was entire- ly out of position and was never up with the forwards, tla perhaps eing. due to the fact that he nas xys played at half back. Most of the Police raids were coming from the right wing. where Tom Pile was kept busy, and most of hls centres were perfectly directed.. The first goal scored came fron, his boot and it was certainly a splendid effort.

Both Pile and Blackburn were kept busy especially in the closing stages of the game. Of the two, Pile was the steadfer and it was through his perfect tackling in the nick of time that the Police were able to keep down the score.

McHardy appeared very cool but had by no means an easy task. It was not the straight drives that he was more concerned with bui the many beautiful centres which

FUSILIERS SLOW

The Fusillers took some time to se.tle down, Coakley and Evans did not seem to be able to forge their way ahead,

Ineffective Harrison proved against the ever watchful Parker. Talbot at centre halt wasted too much time with his fancy tactics and was more often robbed of the ball before he made any use of it. Had he only opened out the game a bit sooner, the result might have been a different one.

Early in the game Stevens miss- ed a beautil header when he was positioned right in front of the a Ane goal mouth and received pass from Pile,

Police Shortly afterwards the took the lead when Stevens kent Tom Elle away on the wing. Ple took the ball on his own, beat Kee- ton and took a hard shot which had Rowlands well beaten.

this change proved most effective. Talbot went rightinner and Coak Jey took the right extreme.

They were soon rewarded when Coakley received the ball and sent a fine drive which beat McHardy all the way.

One minute later Jahnisen put the Police in the lead again when he gathered a pass from 8:evens and ran in to score a fine goal.
