Silver prices were down day to the extent of 1/4 for both deliveries. the quotations being 191 for Ready and 197 for Forward. Si ver advices reported India 15 having operated both ways. China sold. There was lack of support and after the official Axing sellers were reported at 1/16 under the quoted rates. In America. the rate was unchanged at 443 for spot.
The London/New York cross- rate was quoted at 4.998. New York, London was quoted at 1.99)., MARKET Steady for
but forward near rates were not quite so robust.
STERLING
A small business was reported at 1/32 for cash. Subsequent.y transactions were arranged at 1/3 13/16 for May and April and 1/32 July. Towards 1 p.m. offers at 1/3 13/18 were accepted for March, anishing with sellers 1/34 March May and 1/5 11/18 June/ July, buyers at 1/16 higher respec; Lively.

SHANGHAI MARKET Opened with sellers at 1/2) and closed easier at 1/2 7/16 for Spot. 1.6. Dollars opened with sellers at 30 3/16 and c'osed 1/8 easier at 30 1/18 for Spot.
IN THE AFTERNOON. Some activity was shown in the market this afternoon. The tone appeared easier during the early part of the afternoon but reacted slightly towards the close.
STERLING Business was done at 1/3 for for April, March and 1/3 11/16 June. May. The market closed with sellers at 1/3 for March and 1/3 11/16 April/June, buyers at 1/16 higher respectively.
