General Lee, States Co., Feb, 15.
The vessel while sailing from Foochow to Hongay.to transport coal to Shanghai, went on rocks
last Saturday. According to the first 'telegram received here, the vessel struck a sharp rock and the first hold was flooded with dive feet of water.
The latest telegram reported that the sea at this locality was very rough, the vessel being pounded heavily, It is probably due to thilg condition that the commander expressed his fears for
the vessel.
The Chinese shipping frin, upon receipt of above telegrams, in- formed the Chinese Associated Marine Insurance Co., with which the vessel is insured. Both the Tokyo Salvage Co, and the Hong Kong Dock have beën asked to rescue the vessel. A telegram was sent by the firm last night, in- [quiring if attempts at salvage would prove futile in view of the prevalling conditions,
The vessel was built in England in 1898 and is 2,346 tons. Com- manded by Capt. Buhre, she has a crew of 52 persons.—"N, C. D. News,"
