London, Jan. 4. The death has occurred at Dur- ban, South Africa, of M. James Henderson," MP. for the Berea Division of Durban in the House of Assembly, who spent the early part of his life in Glasgow and began his business career with Messrs James Finlay and Co. (Ltd); of Glasgow and Calcutta,

Mr. Henderson wag a son of Mr. R Henderson, Glasgow, and was educated at Glasgow High School He began his connection with Messra Finlay at the age of 16 and while he was at the Glasgow öfficu he was private secretary to the late Bir John Muir,

During that time he was iss ciated with Queen's Park United Presbyterian Church, Crosshill

Bubsequently Mr. Henderson was, transferred to the Calcutta house of Mesars, Finlay. For two years he remained in Calcutta, and at the end of that time he joined the firm of Messrs Steel Murray and Co., Durban, becoming Joint manager of the business.
