C. and A Modes (Ltd.) have purchased Rentons (Ltd.), one of
the oldest drapery establishments in Princes Street, Edinburgh; and are to take control to-morrow. The purchase is made as part of the multiple firm's policy of opening branches in all big centres in the country whenever an opportunity
occurs.
Rentons have been in Princes Street since 1840, when they trang ferred from North Bridge, where they had been since 1805. Adjoin ing premises were purchased from Mesare Cranston and Elliot in 1908, and a further addition was made to Rentons about eight years
ago.
This is the second purchase of an old established business in Princes" Bizeet by a multiple Arm during the past few months.
THEY MAKE GOOD
Quins and squads have a fim career cut out for them
But it'a tough for ziddies like Shirley Temple and Freddie Bar holomew. Earning nearly £1,000 isn't a honey-not even when that sum arrives every Friday in the weekly wage envelope....
Film bubles mustn't be spolled. Tax collectors must be warded of. Nor must parents get too much of the money, or fum fans, think the
kids are being molly-coddled.
Little Virginia Weldler and eight- year-old Dickie Moore get nearly E100 a week.
Baby le Roy in real life Roy Weinbrenner--has earned as much as 2100 a day. Even though he could only toddle and couldn't speak a word,

Dick Powell is the company's congater, and Ann Dvorak its lead- ing dancer, and as you might guess they're wild about each other.
