The London siiver market was closed on Saturday. In America the rate was unchanged at 492 for Spot. The London/New York cross-rate was higher at 4901 New York/London was tially higher at 4.971..

MARKET Opened with indications steadiness but later eased off slightly owing to some demand. A fair volume of business was done in the Inter-bank market, undertone was not robust.

STERLING Opened with sellers at 1/3 11/16 With business done at 1/3 Feb ruary. The market then eased off slightly and offers at 1/3 9/16 were accepted for February delvery. The market then reacted slightly nzd transactions were arranged at 1/3 for February delivery and 1/3 11/18 for January/China. New Year and also for January delivery.
