The London Suver market was closed on Saturday, the price for Ready silver, was quoted' at 21 but there was no Forward rate.
The London/New York cross- rate rose 1/4 to 4931 and the New York/London rate was high- er by 5/8 to 4.934. **
MARKET
Opened steady but later eased off slightly. The undertone, was not robust particularly for forward deliveries.
STERLING
Opened with sellers at 1/3 11/10 with business done subsequently a-1/3-13/16 for near followed"by" transactions at 1/31 for December," 1/32 for January and 1/3 for February. Later the market ensed off slightly and offers at 1/3 13/16 were again accepted for cash, 1/3 11/16 was arranged for January and 1/3 9/16 for February. A couple of small transactions were also arranged at 1/33 for near- de- livery and 1/34 was fixed for Jan- uary. The market closed, at i p.m. with sellers at 1/3 for De- cember. 1/34 for January probably 1/3 9/16 for February. buyers at 1/18 higher respectively.
