Members of the Association, who have received, during the last few days, the "1914" rifles which have just arrived in the Colony, turned up in force at the naval range at Stonecutters on Saturday afternoon, when the great superiority of this weapon over the service rife which had not been "packed," was at 'önce made apparent
Not unnaturally, some found he use and "feel" of this new rifle somewhat strange, but the results obtained prove, in no uncertain fashion, that, at long last, a rifle is available, at a very moderate cost, which win “stay under all climatic conditions, and that results obtained are entirely dépendent upon the steadi- ness, skill, and marksmanship of the "man behind the gun."
We are asked to state that there will be no midweek shoot on Wednesday afternoon (Christmas Day), but that a special, shoot will be hair on the morning of Boxing Day, December 26 on the naval range at Stonecutters. Thula will take the form of a "Wapenschaw," in which each member will bring with him a prize, and at the conclusion of the shoot, the member making the highest score will have the first choice of the prizes sò col- lected and so on. After the shoot, a real "Olde Christmassé" din- ner will take place in the naval clubhouse at a cost of 31.50 per head; already a number of members-have made application to attend the shoot and dinner, and any others who wish to take part are urged to let the Honorary Secretary know of their wish to be present by 10, am. on 'Tuesday, after which time, no further applications can be considered.
