Southern teams scored brillant- ly in F. A Cup replays to-day.) Reading, Brighton, Bristol Rovers 'and" Watford, all winning.

Reading gained a clear-cut ver- dict over Chester at Elm Park scoring three times without reply, and Brighton beat Scarborough by A similar margin.

Watford delighted their own supporters by overcoming Rother- ham by the only goal scored and Bristol Rovers did extremely, well to beat Oldham by four goals to one.'

Followers of local cricket will be Interested to learn that Mr. A. C. Beck,

the interport fast-bowler and all-rounder, arrived in the Colony yesterday on a vacation of three weeks. He la wasting no time

in getting back to his favourite game and is turning out for the Club in their league match' against the LR.C. next Saturday. Provided he is not suffering too much from lack of practice he should prove a decided acquisition to the alde.

A DEADLY BOWLER." In the opinion of many of the Colony's cricket critles, Beck is one of the most deadly bowlers ever to have played here. Bowl- ing right-hand over the wicket, he usually pitches on the middle and leg stumps and has a disconcert ing knack of making the ball kick, much to the terror of timid bats- men, Much of the popularity of Volunteer cricket was due to his efforts and unbounded enthusiasm and teams were fleided practically every Sunday with a cricket week during the race meeting. He was transferred to Manila soon after the fast triangular series when we were visited by both Shanghai and Mainya..

1914 Rifles Tested
