The London/New York cross- rate was slightly higher at 4.03 and the New York/London rate was unchanged at 4.93.

Nervous at the opening with in- dications of weakness but subse- quently re-acted slightly. Towards the close buying enquiries were re- newed closing on the easy side.

Sterling

Opened with small offerings at 1/4 1/16, which were immediately accepted followed by transactions at 1/4 for January, 1/3 15/16 for February, 1/3 15/18 for January and 1/4 for December. The mar- ket then re-acted slightly, and business was arranged at 1/4 for January and 1/4 1/18 for Decem- ber.

Towards the close offers a 1/4 1/16 were accepted for cash followed by transactions at 1/3 15/16 for February and 1/3 fo February and 1/37 for February finishing with sellers at 1/4 for December, 1/3 15/16 for January and 1/3 for February, buyers bid- ding 1/16 higher respectively.
