HONG KONG DAILY PRESS, MONDAY,
MAMAK HOCKEY GAME PROTEST
The First Interruption to the otherwise smooth, and credit- able running of the Mamak Hockey tournament, has occurred with the filling of a prolest on the part of the United Hockey Club, against a game "that they played last week with the Ro- yat Engineer's "B" as their opponents.
'. It is understood that the United have pointed out to the Mamak anthorities that the game was played without the re- gulation referee, who failed to turn up Consequently the rame was nothing more than a free-for-all, the United alleged, and they are asking for a re-play,
At the same kime. It is stated, the United are willing to forfeit points on the return game, which is scheduled, according to the programme, for December 15. If their opponents cla'm that last week's game was played by common consent with a make-shift referee.
The United are keen to have the game re-played, as they consider that the match was poorly controlled, with the result. that the standard of play detriorated considerably, and infr.nge- ments were frequent. Under these circumstances, they claim the" gume should be considered null and vold. The matter, we un- derstand, will come up for consideration at, the next committee meeting of the controlling body.
