Sliver prices were lowered over the week-end to the extent of 1/16 for Ready and 1/8 for Forward, the quotations being 29-3/16 ́ and 28-13/16 respectively, Advices re- ported America, bought while India sold." The market closed steady.

In America the rate remained at 65-3/8 for spot.

rate rose 1/4 to 4.93-5/8 and the New York-London rate was also higher by 3/8 to 4.93-7/8.

Sterling

Business was done shortly after the opening at 1/6-3/18 for spot. The market then ensed of and offers at 1/6-1/18 were accepted for cash followed by transactions. at 1/8 for cash, 1/3-13/16 for December and 1/5-3/4 for Decem- ber. Towards lunch time business was reported at 1/5-15/16 for November and also 1/5-7/8 for November. The market closed at I p.m. with sellers at 1/5-13/16 för November, 1/5-5/8 for December and 1/5-7/16 for January, buyers at 1/18 higher respectively,

U.S. Dollars

Opened with, buyers at 37-3/18 with business done later at 37-1/16 and 97 for early December. Later 36-15/16 was arranged for cash The market closed at 1 pm with sellers at 38-11/18 for November, 36-5/16 for December and 35 for January, buyers at 1/8 higher.

Shanghai Dollars Sellers were quoted at 123 for cash.

Shanghai Market Opened with sellers for Sterling } at 1/2-15/32 and closed at 1/2-1/2 for spot. U.S. Dollars-opened with sellers, at 29-3/4 and closed at 29- 13/16 for spot.

IN THE AFTERNOON The market continued easy in the afternoon but towards the close appeared a shade steadier.

Sterling

Business was done at 1/5-3/4, 1/5-11/18 and 1/5-5/8 for near delivery and 1/5-9/16 and 1/5-1/2 were also arranged for December delivery. The market closed with sellers at 1/5-11/18 for November, 1/5-1/2 for December and 1/5-1/4 for January, buyers at 1/18 higher respectively...

U.S. Dollars

The market closed with sellers at 38-7/16 for November and prob- ably 36-1/8 for December, buyers.
