in 1933 the International Olympic Committee was uncertain whether it would be possible to hold the Games in Germany as arranged, at any rate unless adequate guaran→ tees were forthcoming that the rules.would" be respected.
It was doubted at the outset whether old colleagues in Germany would adhere to the rules as loyally as before, and Germany had to face the task of convincing the world, bence during the last to years many representatives of th ternational sport have visited Ger- many to make investigations on the spot
Without a single exception every one after a prolonged stay went away satisfied that all rules would be scrupulously respected, There- fore the Olympic committee had
no choice but to leave matters as they were, that is to say, hold the Games in Germany according to programme.· ̈
