The game was played at a fast pace and the soldiers opened the scoring in the first five minutes through Taylor. This was the only goal scored in the first half,

After the resumption the Police Mr. and Mrs. M. Costello attacked strongly and bombarded the Lincoln's goal but Honings- worth was too good and time and again cleared with lusty kicks.

*. MR. PATERSON'S LECTURE

The Association was very glad to have in their midst yesterday a new member in the person of Mr. A. H. Paterson, who delivered a very interesting lecture on "THE NATIONAL THEATRE,"

In' the

course of his very Interesting

Mr. Paterson talk. stressed the point of the ne- cessity of "A National Thea- tre:" he himself had done a great deal travel.ng all over Europe and the Continent and had seen most of the plays as produced.in the different cities and not only had they brought entertainment to the many who frequented them but greatly helped towards the education of the many thousands of people both young and old.

By the institution of "A Nation- a Theatre," the people in general, .would be taught to appreciate even more the works of great wri- ters by actually seeing. the play enacted. He urged the many who were present at the lecture, that on their return Home, to bring the matter up before the Parliament- ary representat ves and to urge them to build in the Home Coun try A National Theatre."
